Château LA TOUR DE MONS 2014
Château La Tour de Mons is located in Soussans, in the Margaux appellation in the Bordeaux wine region. Its history dates back to 1098 but enjoyed its success under the ownership of Pierre de Mons in 1623. After being sold to Crédit Agricole Grands Crus, it is today the Perrodo family (owner of Château Labégorce Margaux and Marquis d'Alesme ) who owns the domain. It is run by Marjolaine Maurice de Coninck , general manager and oenologist, assisted by the advice of oenologist Claude Gros. The vineyard covers 58 hectares in one piece. The average age of the vines is 40 years. In recent years, a major renovation program has been put in place: construction of a new wine cellar and an air-conditioned storage cellar, a major drainage program, reasoned management of the vineyard with a view to a sustainable ecological balance.
Château La Tour de Mons is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc . After manual harvesting and sorting at reception, the batches are distributed by origin in stainless steel vats allowing rigorous plot selection. The alcoholic fermentation at low temperature is slow which allows a gentle extraction process. The different batches are placed in barrels as soon as they are run off. The presses are then carefully selected and assembled. The aging lasts 12 months in French oak barrels , 30% of which are new.
Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc
