Domaine Pierre Vaisse - The Russian Galibaou 2019
Domaine Vaïsse is located in Puechabon , in the Terrasses du Larzac in Languedoc . It has been managed by Pierre Vaïsse since 1999, who then only owned two hectares of vines which he had inherited from his parents. He produced his first vintage in 2007. Today his vineyard extends over 16 hectares mainly planted with red grape varieties: 14.5 hectares against only 1.5 hectares of Viognier. It was sponsored by great winegrowers: Frédéric Pourtalié from Domaine Montcalmès, Xavier Braujou from Terrasses d'Elise and Laurent Vaillé from Grange des Pères. He is renowned for aging his wines for long periods, usually more than 24 months.
Galibaou du Russe is a blend of equal parts Mourvèdre and Syrah . The aging lasts 24 months in barrels of one wine or more . The cuvée takes its name from a plot where an oak tree was planted in 1860 by Louis Ravaille, whose nickname was "Le Russe".
Grapes: 50% Mourvèdre, 50% Syrah
