The Cross of Carbonnieux 2019
Château Carbonnieux is located in Pessac-Léognan , in the Bordeaux wine region. The estate was founded in the 13th century and over the next six centuries its ownership was passed on to many bourgeois families in France, including the Bouchereau family (founders of Clos des Millésimes). The chateau's modern history begins in the mid-1900s, when it was bought by the Perrin family . Marc Perrin and his son first began a major replanting campaign which took the estate to 45 hectares in 1970 then to 70 hectares in 1980, to reach nearly 95 hectares today. Château Carbonnieux is committed to practicing organic and reasoned agriculture throughout the vineyard and is labeled HVE3 (High Environmental Value Level 3).
La Croix de Carbonnieux Rouge 2019 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) and Merlot (45%) . The harvest is manual followed by a triple sorting of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in vats and then the wine is transferred to barrels for 12 months , with a proportion of 30 to 40% new wood.
