Bonnigal and Bodet Vignerons - Mont Luma - Malbec 2017
Bonnigal-Bodet Vignerons is an estate located in Limeray, in the Loire Valley. The estate has existed since 1927 and is still family-run. It is now the fourth generation, with Jean-Baptiste Bonnigal and his longtime friend Stéphane Bodet , who operates the vineyard. They produce wines under the Touraine Amboise, Crémant de Loire and Touraine appellations, on 55 hectares. For them, the majority of the work is done in the vineyards: tillage, enhancement of the ecosystem, respect for nature and the environment. They are also not very interventionist in the cellar in order to let the terroir of each cuvée express itself fully. The aging tends to be long, in oak barrels and on fine lees.
Mont Luma 2017 is made from Malbec (Côt) , grown on a clay-limestone terroir on Turonian limestone. The harvest is de-stemmed and sorted on a sorting table. The maceration is carried out in the form of an infusion for 10 days in barrels. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. After pressing, the free-run and press juices are blended and then the malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. The wine is aged for 12 months on fine lees, then 4 months in stainless steel vats .
Grape variety: 100% Malbec (Côt)
