Domaine Bellegarde - History - Half bottle 2020
Domaine Bellegarde is located in Monein, in the Jurançon appellation in the southwest of France. The estate was founded in 1920 by Gratien Labasse and then passed down from generation to generation. Since 1985, his grandson Pascal Labasse has managed the 12-hectare estate in conversion to organic farming . In the vineyard, the southern heat and the south wind allow the raisining of the grapes, an over-ripening technique for the production of sweet wines. The estate produces eight vintages, half dry and the other half sweet.
Historic sweet wine is a blend of Petit Manseng (80%) and Gros Manseng (20%) harvested manually. Vinification and aging take place in stainless steel vats for Gros Manseng for 6 months, and in barrels for Petit Manseng for 3 months.
Grape varieties: 80% Petit Manseng, 20% Gros Manseng
