Clos Dufourg - Margaux 2019
Château des Graviers is located in Arsac, in the Margaux appellation area in the Bordeaux wine region. It has belonged to the Dufourg-Landry family for several generations: Christophe Landry represents the fifth generation and has been making wines since the mid-1990s. The Graviers vineyard extends over 13 hectares of vines divided into different plots and certified in organic farming. since 2012. Christophe purchased new plots to create Clos Dufourg : a small cru of 4.5 hectares from several types of terroirs. The construction of a new cellar allows him to fully experiment with different winemaking and aging methods with several types of containers: barrels, amphorae, concrete vats, jars, etc.
Clos Dufourg is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc . Merlot undergoes a long fermentation; it is aged in 400 liter barrels guaranteeing minimal contact with air for up to 24 months. The Cabernet Franc is vinified using carbonic maceration and is aged with 10% new wood. Petit Verdot is aged in clay amphorae, which gives a more oxygenated wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in 225 liter barrels immersed in water to control oxidation, the adjustment is made according to the tannin levels. Malbec is harvested when ripe and aged in barrels. Only 7,000 bottles were produced for this first 2019 vintage.
