Château Magdeleine-Bouhou - Chardonnay 2023
Château Magdeleine-Bouhou is located in Cars, in the Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation area. In the 19th century, the estate became the property of two Bordeaux merchants, Messrs. Arnaut and Jeantet. Taken over in 2021 by Andrew Eakin , the objective has always been to produce the best possible with the desire to experiment, through blends, containers and aging. The conversion to organic farming of the estate was an integral part of the takeover project. Andrew began his journey into the wine industry in 2010 when he established the 'Bottle Apostle' wine, beer and spirits stores in London. Moving from retail to production and sales has given him a broad understanding of the entire process and has certainly given him a much deeper appreciation for each bottle made, sold and consumed. Magdeleine-Bouhou is located on clay-limestone soil typical of this region.
This cuvée is made from young Chardonnay vines. The vinification is carried out in 500 liter barrels (2 Stockinger and 1 Taransaud) for 2/3 and the rest in stainless steel vats . The malolactic conversion is partial then the wine is aged in barrels and vats. The oyster on the label represents oyster fossils found in the vineyard.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
