Schloss Johannisberg - Orangelack Kabinett 2023
Schloss Johannisberg is located in the village of Johannisberg in the Rheingau wine region of Germany . The estate has been producing wine for over 900 years and is said to have "discovered" late harvest wine. Only Riesling has been grown at Schloss Johannisberg since 1720. Today, the winery is run by Stefan Doctor and Marcel Szopa , the winery is managed by Gerd Ritter and Michel Städter is in charge of viticulture. The castle forest of around 300 hectares extends north of Johannisberg. The wood of the native oaks is used as raw material for the production of the wine barrels that they use for the elaboration. The estate has hierarchized its wines which are distinguished by their different colors on the neck of the bottle. Thus, the so-called classic wines with the term "Gelblack" are found under the yellow color, "Rotland" for Kabinett in red capsule, "Grünlack" for Spätlese in geen capsule, "Silberblack" for dry wines in silver capsule etc.
Kabinett is the lightest style of Riesling, made from grapes that have a must weight of 67-82 degrees Oechsle (the hydrometric scale measuring the density of grape must), which is equivalent to 148-188 g. /L of residual sugar.
Grape variety: 100% Riesling
