Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe - Clos Roquète Blanc 2023
Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape , in the Southern Rhône . The estate was created by Hippolyte Burnier and marketed its first wine in 1900. The Brunier family also produces wine under the Massaya label in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. It has grown to become one of the largest owners in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with nearly 100 hectares. The estate's vines (60 years old on average) are planted on the famous Plateau de La Crau, a renowned wine-growing site in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sustainable viticulture is practiced throughout the property.
Clos Roquète is a blend of Grenache Blanc (34%), Roussanne (33%) and Clairette (33%) . The vines are grown in the eponymous place, on a very sandy surface with a subsoil of red clay mixed with a crumbly stone called "Pierre de Châteauneuf". The harvest is manual with double sorting in the vineyard, followed by a third sorting in the cellar. The grapes are put into direct pressing then fermentation takes place in barrels, demi-muids and tuns. The wine is aged for 10 months on lees in barrels and demi-muids .
