Domaine Pierre Ménard - Pluton 2023
Domaine Pierre Ménard is located in Faye-d'Anjou, in the Loire Valley. It is run by Pierre Ménard, a passionate winemaker who took over part of the family vineyards in 2013. After international winemaking experiences, notably in Portugal (Ramos Pinto), Hungary (Disznókő) and Bordeaux (Château Latour), he devoted himself to expressing the richness of the Angevin terroirs. The vineyard extends over 4.12 hectares along the banks of the Layon, highlighting the nuances of schist characteristic of this region. Pierre Ménard favors a plot-by-plot approach to reveal the diversity of his terroirs, with organic farming currently being certified.
The Pluton cuvée is an intra-plot selection of Chenin Blanc exclusively from the Clos des Mailles plot. Pierre Ménard specifically selects the vines located on veins of phtanite , a metamorphic rock that winds through the schist. The grapes are harvested separately, then vinified in barrels , before benefiting from 12 months of aging.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
