Cristom - Mt. Jefferson Cuvée - Pinot Noir 2021
Cristom Vineyards is located in Salem, in the Willamette Valley, Oregon , United States . The winery was founded in 1992 by Paul and Eileen Gerrie , and today consists of 5 vineyards in Eola-Amity-Hills on an area of of over 97 hectares. The estate's five vineyards are named Eileen, Jessie, Louise, Marjorie and Paul Gerrie Vineyard; all named after members of the founding family. They also source grapes from neighboring growers. The estate is run according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture . The Cristom logo was commissioned as a sort of "coat of arms" for Paul Gerrie. It was created by artist Timothy Tyler and the name Cristom pays homage to the Gerries' two children, Christine and Tom.
Mt. Jefferson Cuvée is a blend of several parcels of Pinot Noir , grown by partner winemakers based in Eola-Amity-Hills, as well as Pinot Noir grapes from Cristom’s own vineyards. Between 40 and 50% of the harvest is retained and vinified in whole bunches. The wine is aged for 11 months in French oak barrels , 30% of which are new.
