Domaine Bellegarde - History 2021
Domaine Bellegarde is located in Monein, in the Jurançon appellation in the southwest of France. The estate was founded in 1920 by Gratien Labasse and then passed down from generation to generation. Since 1985, his grandson Pascal Labasse has managed the 12-hectare estate , which is converting to organic farming . In the vineyard, the southern heat and the south wind allow the grapes to be raisined, an over-ripening technique for making sweet wines. The estate produces eight vintages, half dry and half sweet.
The sweet wine Historique is a blend of Petit Manseng (80%) and Gros Manseng (20%) harvested manually. The vinification and aging take place in stainless steel vats for the Gros Manseng for 6 months, and in barrels for the Petit Manseng for 3 months.
Grape varieties: 80% Petit Manseng, 20% Gros Manseng
