Domaine LABET - Vin de voile - Cuvée de garde - Chardonnay / Savagnin 2016
Domaine Labet is located south of the Jurassian vineyard, in a region called Revermont in the village of Rotalier. It is a family estate created by Alain and Josie Labet in 1974. In 2003, their son Julien Labet, who had started with them, decided to create his own three-hectare estate. Since 2013, the two vineyards have been brought together and managed by Alain, Josie, Julien, as well as his sister and brother: Charline and Romain. They cultivate together more than 13 hectares of vines which extend over 45 plots, in 4 communes and thirteen localities. They produce around thirty cuvées each year. Three hectares of Domaine Labet are grown in certified organic farming, the rest are being converted. They highlight parcellation and mass selection (visual selection of the most robust vineplants).
The Cuvée de Garde is an oxidative wine aged under flor made from Chardonnay and Savagnin whose average age varies between 30 and 60 years. The grape varieties are aged in old oak barrels, under flor in old barrels of 228 litres for 24 to 48 months. The presence of oxygen in the barrels allows the development of a veil of yeast (called flor) on the surface which offers the characteristic aromas of hazelnuts, walnuts and spices of Jura wines.
Grape varieties: 95% Chardonnay, 5% Savagnin
