Palacios Remondo - La Montesa - Grenache 2017
Alvaro Palacios is a wine producer famous for its Garnacha-based wines (Grenache Noir) from Priorat, in Spain. Founded in 1990 by Alvaro Palacios himself, the estate has been at the forefront of Priorat's fame as one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain. Alvaro Palacios grew up in Rioja where his family makes wines under the name Palacios Remondo.
La Montesa is a cuvée produced by Palacios Remondo in the Rioja region. It is a blend of Grenache (92%), and other grape varieties (Tempranillo, Mazuelo ...). The harvest is manual and the entire harvest is destemmed. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel tanks for 23 days. Aging lasts 12 months in French and American oak barrels, 10% of which are new.
