Domaine Andrée - Les Mines 2017
Domaine Andrée is located in the Anjou appellation, in the Loire Valley. The small cellar was founded by Stéphane Erisée. Before creating the domain, he worked with Antoine Foucault, from Domaine du Collier. He exploits 5 hectares of vines which he cultivates in organic farming and produces wines from Cabernet Franc, Chenin, Grolleau Noir and Grolleau Gris grapes, pursuing the philosophy of minimal intervention and using the minimum of sulphites in the processes of winemaking.
Les Mines is made from Cabernet Franc, the average age of the vines in the plot is 45 years. The vines are grown on soil that looks like a coal mine. Stéphane Erisée believes that the particular variety of metamorphic rock is black because of its high content of carbon and graphite. This particular geology gives a unique feeling of minerality in the wine. Les Mines is aged in barrels, 30% of which is new for 24 months before bottling.
Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
