Castle of Viens 2016
Château de Viens is located in Mombrier, in the Côtes de Bourg appellation in Bordeaux . Eric Merle , son of a farmer, bought his 10-hectare wine estate in 1983 at the age of 18. Today, he operates 30 hectares of vines on specific terroirs with atypical names: Le Cul du Chaudron, La Butte, Le Mamelon, Le Pin, La Pente, Paille and Noliquet. In 1998, he created a Cooperative for the Use of Agricultural Equipment with a colleague and 4 other winegrowers from the Côtes de Bourg, which allows them to pool their resources in order to acquire agricultural equipment. They have invested in a New Holland harvesting machine, which is very efficient and equipped with a sorter that directly evacuates all the impurities from the harvest before arriving in the skip that transports the grapes.
