Domaine Bellegarde - Comet 2017
Domaine Bellegarde is located in Monein, in the Jurançon appellation in the south-west of France. The estate was founded in 1920 by Gratien Labasse and then passed down from generation to generation. Since 1985, his grandson Pascal Labasse has been running the 12-hectare estate in conversion to organic farming . In the vineyard, the southern heat and the southern wind allow the raisining of the grapes, a technique of over-ripening for the production of sweet wines. The estate produces eight cuvées, half dry and the other half sweet.
The sweet wine La Comète is made from Petit Manseng raisined , harvested manually in successive tries. Vinification and aging for one year with batonnage occur only in barrels , 20% of which are new.
Grape variety: 100% Petit Manseng
