Domaine ABBATUCCI - Imperial Minister 2020
Domaine Abbatucci is located in the south of Corsica , in the heart of the Taravo Valley and at an altitude of about 100 meters, one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of iconic varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello or Nielluccio, the 20-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of eighteen varieties of endemic varieties that contribute to the preservation of the island's wine heritage. The vineyard and vinification techniques have been in line with the principles of biodynamics since 2000, with, among other things, only manual harvesting and during vinification, only native yeasts are used.
Imperial Minister is an assemblage of Sciaccarello, Nielluccio, Morescola, Morescono, Montanaccia, Carcajolo Nero and Aléatico . The terroir is composed of granitic to sandy-silty arenas exposed to the north and northwest. Jean-Charles Abbatucci works on biodynamics with the influence of phytotherapy practices: horse plowing and mastery of winter weeding with his flock of sheep. The hand-harvested grapes are then meticulously sorted and received by gravity. The vinification is carried out in a truncated cone . The maceration lasts for several weeks with an alternation of pressing and winding. Aging lasts 12 months in a 600 liter barrel and a half and then the wine is placed in stainless steel vats for several months. It is finally bottled for a minimum of 6 months.
