Domaine de l'Arlot - Saint Georges Night - La Gerbotte 2019
Domaine de l'Arlot is located on the Côte de Nuits , just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy . The estate has vines in several prestigious vineyards including two Premier Cru vineyards; Clos de Forêts Saint-Georges and Clos de l'Arlot monopoly. The Arlot vineyard was created in the 18th century when the owner of the property built the surrounding wall. It was later expanded by trader Jules Belin after it was bought out in 1891. Its modern incarnation stems from the sale of the property by Belin's heirs to the French investment firm AXA Millésimes , which also owns several other wine estates. AXA has further expanded the Domaine de l'Arlot holdings with plots of Premier Cru Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots and Grand Cru Romanée Saint-Vivant. Agricultural practices have been organic since 2000 and biodynamic since 2003.
La Gerbotte comes from the youngest vines of the white Clos de l'Arlot, planted between 1992 and 2006. It could have been classified under the Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru appellation, but the estate has chosen to fold it into the Nuits Saint Georges appellation. The grapes are harvested in the morning and then pressed directly. The must is settled and fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts. Halfway through fermentation, the wine is put into barrels, 20% of which are new. The aging lasts 12 months in barrels and 3 months in vats .
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
