Domaine des Bernardins - Muscat Beaumes de Venise 2020
The Domaine des Bernardins is located in the Muscat Beaumes-de-Venise appellation, in the southern Rhône . The former property of the Bernardin monks has been transformed into a wine estate and for 5 generations it has belonged to the Castaud family . Its founder, Louis Castaud is at the origin of the creation of the AOC Muscat Beaumes-de-Venise. The estate is worked in sustainable agriculture , favoring cultural and biological methods to reduce the use of phytosanitary products as much as possible.
Muscat Beaumes-de-Venise 2020 is a blend of Muscat à Petits Grains Blancs (75%) and Muscat à Petits Grains Noirs (25%) . After manual harvesting, the grapes are pressed and fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts. Vin Doux Naturel vinification requires stopping fermentation by adding neutral grape alcohol at 95-96% to obtain a sweet and fortified wine . Aging lasts 6 months in stainless steel vats . It contains between 100 and 125 g/L of residual sugars.
