Luxardo - Maraschino Cherry Liqueur - Maraschino - 32%
The maraschino (or maraschino) is a colorless liqueur whose aromatization is obtained mainly by the use of the distillate of marasques or the product of the maceration of cherries in ethyl alcohol of agricultural origin.
The original recipe for this liqueur was created by the Dominican apothecaries of the monastery of Zara in present-day Croatia (formerly the Italian region of Dalmatia) at the beginning of the 16th century. In 1821, Girolamo Luxardo , Consul of the Kingdom of Sardinia opened a distillery, which quickly became the largest and most famous in the region. During the bombings of 1943 and 1944, the distillery was almost completely destroyed. The Luxardo company was then transferred, by Giorgio Luxardo, sole survivor of the family, to Torreglia, in the region of Veneto , Italy . In this region, the Luxardo company has industrial nurseries where more than 22,000 cherry trees of the Marasca Luxardo variety are grown.
Maraschino is used in making many cocktails.
