Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe - Châteauneuf du Pape White 2021
The Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape , in the Southern Rhône . The estate was created by Hippolyte Burnier and marketed its first wine in 1900. The Brunier family also produces wine under the Massaya label in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. He grew to become one of the largest owners of Châteauneuf-du-Pape with almost 100 hectares. The estate's vines (60 years on average) are planted on the famous Plateau de La Crau, a renowned wine-growing site in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sustainable viticulture is practiced throughout the property.
Le Vieux Télégraphe Blanc is a blend of Clairette (40%), Grenache Blanc (25%), Roussanne (25%) and Bourboulenc (10%) whose vines are around 45 years old. The harvest is manual with double sorting in the vineyard, followed by a third sorting in the cellar. The grapes are directly pressed and then fermented in barrels, demi-muids and 30 hectoliter tuns . The wine is aged on lees in the same containers for 12 months.
