Domaine Belargus - Quarters 2020
Domaine Belargus is located in Val-du-Layon, in the heart of Anjou Noir in the Loire Valley. The vines are spread around three main islets (Savennières, Quarts-de-Chaume and the Coteaux du Layon), themselves composed of singular terroirs, precisely defined by their exposure, their subsoil or their slope. Built by Ivan Massonnat , the 20-hectare biodynamic estate is dedicated to Chenin Blanc and explores these micro-terroirs in a parcel-based approach inspired by Burgundy climates. The team is made up of young talents such as Adrien Moreau as cellar manager and Amaury Chartier as cultivation manager, and the estate benefits from the support of true Loire pioneers such as Jo Pithon and Guy Bossard.
“Les Quarts” is the original plot that gave its name to the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation. This cuvée comes from Chenin Blanc grown on 3.08 hectares (almost half of the 7 hectares of the locality) on a shale terroir exposed on the southern slope of the hilltop.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
