Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is located in the North of the Rhône Valley . The Chave family has been cultivating vines since 1481, and today the estate is run by Gérard Chave and his son, Jean-Louis. The estate extends over 26 hectares and has approximately 14.5 hectares of Hermitage land, making it one of the largest landowners in the appellation. The vines are located in terraces and cover eight different parcels on the hill, offering a range of mesoclimates and terroirs.
The Hermitage Rouge is made from Syrah , destemmed and trampled. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats and tuns . The wine is aged for around 30 months in barrels , 10 to 20% of which are new.
