Champagne JACQUESSON - Avize Champ Caïn 2013
The Jacquesson Champagne House is located in Dizy in the Marne Valley , in Champagne . Its history dates back to 1978, when the Chiquet family bought the brand and transferred it to their family estate. In 1988, Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet took over and have since overseen a rapid rise to prominence when Jacquesson was ranked third best of all the Houses after Bollinger and Krug. The vineyard is located in two distinct regions: the Grand Cru of Aÿ and two Premiers Crus in Dizy and Hautvillers in the Marne Valley and two Grands Crus in the Côte des Blancs in Avize and Oiry . 80% of Jacquesson wines come from their vineyards, certified in organic farming since 2010.
The Champ Caïn vintage is made from a Chardonnay vine planted in 1962 on a south-facing hillside. The terroir is limestone, clay-sand-loam with chalk gravel on Campanian chalk. The wine comes from the 2013 harvest , vinified and aged on lees in oak barrels before being disgorged in April 2022. It is not dosed .
