Giuseppe Cortese - Barbaresco 2019
Giuseppe Cortese is located in Barbaresco, in the Piedmont region of Italy . The Cortese family has been producing wine in Barbaresco for generations, but it was Giuseppe Cortese who established the family wine business in 1971. The original Rabajà vineyard spans south-facing hillsides with limestone soils. Production was then expanded with the purchase of vineyards in Trifolera, allowing the estate to expand its range.
Barbaresco is made from Nebbiolo from a 1.5 hectare vineyard located between 235 and 315 meters above sea level. The vines are grown on limestone and clay soil, rich in minerals. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The wine is aged for 18 months in old Slavonian oak barrels (5 to 6 years minimum) whose size varies from 17 to 25 hectoliters. It is left to rest for 6 months in the bottle before being marketed.
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo
