Domaine de l'Arlot is located on the Côte de Nuits , just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy . The estate has vines in several prestigious vineyards including two Premier Cru vineyards; the Clos de Forêts Saint-Georges and Clos de l'Arlot monopoly. The Arlot vineyard was created in the 18th century when the owner of the property built the surrounding wall. It was later expanded by the négociant Jules Belin after his purchase in 1891. Its modern incarnation stems from the sale of the property by Belin's heirs to the French investment company AXA Millésimes , which also owns several other wine estates. AXA has further expanded the Domaine de l'Arlot holdings with plots of the Premier Cru Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots vineyard and the Grand Cru Romanée Saint-Vivant. Agricultural practices have been organic since 2000 and biodynamic since 2003.
