Case Basse di Gianfranco Soldera 2019
Case Basse di Gianfranco Soldera is located in Montalcino, Tuscany . The estate was founded in 1972 by Gianfranco and Graziella Soldera . After the death of Gianfranco Soldera in February 2019, the family (Graziella, Monica and Paolo, Mauro and Valeria) continues to manage the farm. The vineyard extends over 23 hectares, at an altitude of 320 meters. The Case Basse terroir is of volcanic origin, rich in minerals and not very fertile. The estate has vast rose gardens containing more than 1,500 species, and woods to promote biodiversity. Viticultural practices are modern and geared towards restricting yields, with short pruning in winter, green pruning in summer and thinning of the grapes to promote ripening.
Case Basse Soldera is made from manually harvested Sangiovese . After rigorous sorting, alcoholic fermentation begins spontaneously with native yeasts in truncated conical wooden vats of more than 100 hectoliters. The wine is aged for a long period in large Slavonian oak barrels . It is aged for a minimum of 6 additional months in the bottle .
Grape variety: 100% Sangiovese
