THE CHAPEL OF AUSONE 2017
Château Ausone is located in Saint-Émilion , on the right bank of the Bordeaux wine region. He was one of the few producers in Saint-Émilion to have the status of Premier Grand Cru Classé A and one of only two estates (the other being Château Cheval Blanc) to hold this status since the creation of the classification in 1955. It withdrew from the ranking in 2022, just like Cheval Blanc and others. The property extends over 7 hectares and is managed by Alain Vauthier , his sister Catherine and his daughter Pauline. The production of the château is very limited with moderate yields.
La Chapelle d'Ausone is the second wine of the château. The 2017 vintage is a blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (40%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) . After traditional fermentation in wooden vats, the wine is aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels .
