Domaine Paul Prieur - Pinot Grains - Sancerre Red 2022
Domaine Paul Prieur is located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation in the Loire Valley. The family estate has been managed by Luc Prieur since 2012, representing the 11th generation. The 14.5-hectare Sauvignon Blanc vineyard is concentrated on the limestone terroirs of Verdigny and Chavignol (Caillottes and Terres Blanches), as well as on the Silex terroirs of the village of Thauvenay. The red wines come from the 5-hectare lieu-dit "Les Pichons", planted in mass selection in the 1950s. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2022 .
Grains de Pinot is made from Pinot Noir from the lower part of the lieu-dit Les Pichons, whose terroir is clay-limestone. The vinification is carried out partly using whole harvests (20 to 40%). Fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 15 months in 228-litre barrels of 1 to 10 wines (70%) and in amphorae (30%) .
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
