Domaine Bellegarde - Pierre Blanche 2023
Domaine Bellegarde is located in Monein, in the Jurançon appellation in the southwest of France. The estate was founded in 1920 by Gratien Labasse and then passed down from generation to generation. Since 1985, his grandson Pascal Labasse has managed the 12-hectare estate , which is converting to organic farming . In the vineyard, the southern heat and the south wind allow the grapes to be raisined, an over-ripening technique for making sweet wines. The estate produces eight vintages, half dry and half sweet.
The dry Pierre Blanche wine is made from a blend of the first selections of Petit Manseng (60%) and Gros Manseng (40%) . The grapes are harvested manually from mid to late October. Fermentation and one-year aging are carried out in demi-muids with indigenous yeasts.
Grape varieties: 60% Petit Manseng, 40% Gros Manseng
